4 Steps to a Wetroom

11 Jan 2017, 10:28 AM
4 Steps to the perfect Wetroom

Step 1: Shower floor

All preformed wetroom shower trays have gradient to drainage point. This ensures water flows consistently to the gully providing the installer and user peace of mind when showering. The wetroom shower floor is a molded shower floor with a built in gradient of approximately 2 degrees. It simply slots into the existing floor to produce a perfectly consistent and perfect water drainage. Simply find the right size that best suites your needs.

Step 2: Tanking

Tile backer boards are made to offer a water resistant alternative to plasterboard or plywood. After ensuring that the rest of your floor finishes flush with deck system, the second step to your wet room is to create a solid and water resistant substrate for your tiles. You can achieve this by using water proof wetroom backerboards. These wetroom backer boards can then be tiled over. Alternatively if you have newly plastered walls and do not which to replace these you can use a tanking kit to waterproof you existing walls and plywood floors.

To find out more about tanking, read out information on What is tanking?

Step 3: Under floor heating

Under floor heating is an essential step when creating your ultimate wet room. The heating system warms and dries your wetroom floor, adding comfort, cleanliness and safety. This step to completing your ultimate wetroom is adding the comfort and security of underfloor heating. Unlike wall radiators, underfloor heating won't cramp the style of your wetroom. In addition, it dries up wet floors quickly, spending up the evaporation process, letting you enjoy lovely warm and dry floors throughout the day.

Step 4: Tiles

A wetroom is only as beautiful as the finished tiling, which needs to stand up to the demanding conditions of a wet environment. You can choose from a large selection of tiles:from stunning wall and floor tiles to beautiful mosaics and rustic stone you always find a style that suits you. Rust remember to choose a non slippery tile when choose a floor tile for inside your showering area.
