How to install a wetroom using Roman Shield
How To Create A Wet Room Using Roman Shield
Step-by-step guide on how to construct and install a wetroom using Roman Showers, Roman Shield Tanking Kit.
Roman Wetroom Preparation
Ensure all surfaces in the construction areas are dry and level as well as free from grease dust and other separating layers
Roman Wetroom Applying the Primer
The entire floor area of the room should be primed with a turn up of 100mm onto the walls. The walls should be also be primed floor to ceiling in the showering area and in the splash zone of the shower., normally 100mm past the showering area. I.E. If your showering area is 100 x 100cm prime floor to 110 x 110cm. The primer can be applied using a small fur roller, brush or air gun. The curing time is a minimum of 2 hours.
Roman Wetroom Apply Outlet Sleeve
Apply the self adhesive outlet sleeve ensuring it is flat with no raised edges, creases or bubbles. The centre of the outlet sleeve is then removed and the waste traps clamping ring is fixed into position.
Roman Wetroom Apply the Shield Tape, Sleeves and Corners
The Roman shield tape, sleeves and corners are bedded down using Roman tanking compound. All wall to wall and wall to floor junctions as well as butt joints and nail or screw heads must be reinforced with the tanking tape. The compound is applied using a medium size paint brush.
Roman Wetroom Pre-checks.
Ensure the shield tape, pipe sleeves, corners and outlet sleeves have been fitted to the appropriate areas and wait until the tanking compound is dry. (curing time is 2-4 hours)
Roman Wetroom Apply the Tanking Compound
The entire floor area of the room should be tanked with a turn up of 100mm onto the walls. The walls should be tanked floor to ceiling in the showering area and in the splash zone. the recommended finished thickness of the tanking compound is a minimum of 1mm, this is usually achieved in 2-3 coats. The tanking compound can be applied using a fur roller or a large paint brush. The curing time is 2-4 hours per coat.
