Dawn of the Re'grey'ssance

23 Dec 2015, 12:27 PM

The changing perception of grey.

There was a time when the colour grey was paired only with John Major. The less edgy, boring cusin of black and white, grey was a symbol for the mediocre, the drab, the dull and frankly depressing.

In last couple of years however, grey has risen from out of the murky middle ground, earing its place at the forefront of good taste within the bathroom.

Grey is currently dominating the bathroom industry in particularly with Bushboard Nuance Silver Travertine, travertine tiles and ranges or grey furniture and anthracite radiators.

But the recent grey revival isn’t exclusive to the bathroom industry. Its style, versatility and sophistication gives it a timeless appeal, and its heightened allure can be felt throughout world culture.

Leading paint manufacture Farrow & Ball have marked a significate  increase in sales of their grey paints over the last year. Expanding their selection to 20 shades. Grey now accounts for nearly a sixth of their overall range.

But the re’grey’ssance does not stop there! Earl Grey Tea has recently seen a huge resurgence. Not to be outdone the entertainments sector also whole heartedly embraced the ‘greyvolution’ over the past year with the EL James’ 50 Shades of Grey series. And if that wasn’t enough, right and proper holidays to our classic grey and cloudy British seasides are on the up once again.

We are for sure in the dawn of the re’grey’ssance.
