Why To Choose A Reinforced Baths

Heavy-duty reinforced baths are the most popular bath type in todays market. In yesteryear, cast iron was a common material for baths, but they are expensive, cold to the touch, and very heavy. Cast iron baths were superseded by lightweight and strong steel bath but these still had the disadvantage of being cold to touch.

Reinforced acrylic bath has similar strength properties but at a fraction of the cost, and weight, but are worm to the touch and have insulating properties helping to keep the bath water warmer for longer.

Reinforced acrylic baths come in many names including, Carronite, Armour Cast, Eternalite, Tungstenite, TrogenCast just to name a feu but most are reinforced with layer upon layer of resin, fibreglass encapsulation and timber framework making them twice as thick as a standard bath plus extra reinforcement. Some manufactures such as Carron offer the option to upgrade to a reinforced bath where other manufactures such as Tissino or ClearGreen are reinforced as standard.

Should I Buy a Reinforced Bath?

How do I know if the bath is reinforced?

You will know if the bath your are purchasing is reinforced as it should have either the option to upgrade or have within it item description or brochure that’s its reinforced. Another easy trick to tell if the bath is a strong bath as standard is to see if the bath has the option for a whirlpool system.

Whirlpool systems are mounted to the bath its self and the active movement of the water and the pump system would cause an inferior standard bath to flex, wobble and leak. So checking if the bath has a whirlpool option is a good indication of a strong bath.

Reinforced Baths Go By Many Names

Every bath manufactuer have their own unique name for their reinforced versions of their baths.

Carronite

Carronite is Carron Bathrooms reinforced variant. Carronites provides a higher level of comfort, luxury and peace of mind. All Carron Bathrooms baths are hand finished but Carronite baths have a  triple-layer​ reinforcement system.

Trojancast Or Supercast

Trojancast or Supercast is Trojan baths reinforced Variants. Trojan Baths has a substantial reinforcement process applied to an acrylic bath. This process gives the bath a green ‘flow coat’ which makes each bath being incredibly strong and hard-wearing.

Cleargreen

Cleargreen baths have always been reinforced and no longer make a standard bath. Formally Cleargreen introduced a ClearLine bath to compete in the none reinforced bath market, but have since ceased this standard line to concentrate on what they do best, reinforced baths.

SolidBlue

Solidblue, by BC Designs, use acrylic that is completely resistant to the UV rays which prevents discolouring when exposed to sunlight. The baths are reinforced with layers of fibreglass, resin and a special hardening composite called BC-Solidblue which makes the baths much stronger.
